Project X NYC- Live and in Color
If Sade and Lenny Kravitz had a child…she /he would be called Project X…
Project X rocked The Bowery Electric last Friday night to a full crowd. Their sounds echoed the smooth voice of Sade with heavy guitars that sparked sounds reminiscent of Prince. The group consists of four talented musicians and songwriters, Manjit on vocals ( her polished voice and sexy legs will keep you on the edge of your seat), Chris on electric guitar, Alix on bass guitar ( think of Jimi Hendrix having a son) and Darren on keys and the producer.
Manjit, hails from the UK , came to New York to pursue her love of music. At first glance, you automatically assume her as another New York model but when she hits the stage and opens her mouth, you are captured by her confidence and smooth vocals. With an EP already under belt (which I own and love) she is a veteran in the game and will surely capture every man’s heart and make the ladies envious of her power.
Alix, the bassist, came to the USA from Haiti at the age of 10 and has been influenced from Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Clark and Black Sabbath.
Chris, on guitar, grew up in NY and studied Jazz, Rock and Classical at the Manhattan School of Music. His influences ranges from Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix to Massive Attack.
Darren, the producer, has an eclectic background production Specialist and Producer Engineer. His influences, Prince, Michael Jackson, and and Quincy Jones help him take the sound of NY and package it for the group, Project X.
The group has only been creating music for a short while but they were destined to make music together. They are currently in the works of making an album and will be touring around New York this Fall. Stay tuned and pay close attention, Project X is coming for your ears and soul
Catch them at Rockwood Music Hall on September 27, 2013.
