J Dilla- Lightworks

Design/Animation – James McMillan
Song – J Dilla’s “Lightworks” (and a Percee P snippet, too.)

I’m fascinated by motion graphics right now…. so this joint really inspires me. This is from James McMillan submission for the Stones Throw Music Video contest. Lightworks by J Dilla… you just can’t go wrong with that!!! A little more info below:

I illustrated and animated this over the past two months—it’s still a bit rough around the edges (both intentionally and not), but enjoy.

And I can’t thank Stones Throw Records enough for this opportunity. Not only do they release consistently excellent music, but without the motivation of this contest, I’d probably still be sitting on my lazy ass instead of having made this.

J Dilla- Still Shining

This is the most in depth and engaging work I’ve seen about J Dilla. Director B Kyle provides a ton of never seen before footage, interviews, and live performances. I’ve watched this 2-3 times already and I’m still learning new things about Dilla…. Raise It Up!!!!!
